Joop/IFF approached RCA to propose new type of fragrance package design for male, can be launching in 2017. Taehun Ko participated those proposal competition with a new concept and package “Joop B-side”. The German fashion brand, Joop pursues strength, expressive, eccentricity and narcissism as their identity. Joop B-side is designed to express the extreme contrast of man’s both side of life, smart and seductive. Its design presents it with two materials that are layered differently. Fine glass surface intends to be smart, and rough copper plated metal surface expresses wildness that men imagine to deviate from boredom of normal life.

Joop/IFF competition short-listed
In the design aspect, keeping the brand identity was a key point. Past Joop’s fragrance bottle design maintain simple and minimal shape but little bit distorted by designer’s touch. B-side’s follows the context of former design by making similar proportion. Another feature is a bottle cap. Former designs maintain particular cylinder shape of the caps. It could be changed annually but most of designs follow similar context and shape. B-side also designed to express its own concept with peeled-off design along with gene of former Joop bottles.
